Inspiring Tomorrow’s India is a series of interactive talk shows which will provide our students an opportunity to interact with versatile and dynamic personalities across various sectors who have contributed to humanity through their work. Their journey will be an inspiration to our students to pursue their individual passions and contribute toward building a Nation.

The second session of Inspiring tomorrow' India was organized on Saturday, 18th Sept'21. EIS had invited Ustad Mohammad Akram Khan, the son of legendary tabla maestro Ustad Hashmat Ali Khan who hails from the famous Gharana of Tabla called AJRADA GHARANA. Ustad Akram Khan is the 7th Generation exponent of the Gharana considered to be one of the six main traditional schools of tabla in India. During his childhood, he has been fortunate to get training under the guidance of his great grandfather Ustad Mohammad Shafi Khan. He is also fortunate to learn from Ustad Niazu Khan who is considered as one of the greatest exponents tabla from AJRADA GHARANA. Ustad Akram Khan has been playing tabla for the past 43 years. He started learning at the age of eleven and since then he has followed his passion for tabla. He has been attracted to this form of music since his early years due to his proximity to tabla maestros from Ajrada Gharana and since then he has dedicated his life to carrying ahead the legacy of the Ajrada Gharana and is now passing on this legacy to the younger generation of tabla lovers. He has performed in more than 11000 concerts across the world and also done many tie-ups to spread the music to the young generation.

Ustadji shared few videos of him performing solo in a concert and also with his father and grandfather.. He also presented a slideshow of various performances and awards received by him. His message was to give equal importance to co-curricular too. He said that with just half an hour Riyaz a day, students can achieve astonishing results with the musical instrument.

It was an interactive session where EIS students asked questions like what is Gharana, His inspiration, His proud moments, the obstacles, how to balance academics and the practice for music, and the experience of his spectacular performance with Ustad Zakir Hussain Sahab. He was glad to answer all the questions which inspired EIS students to take out some time and devote it to Music/co-curricular.

It was an enriching experience for EIS students.
