Mock Elections in EIS

Concept of Election.

Mock elections were held in EIS to make students understand the concept of Election. In SST textbook a separate chapter is dedicated to elections.

Contestants filled nomination forms and teachers selected the candidates along with their symbols. An effective canvassing was done by the Candidates for 2 days and stopped 48 hours prior to the election day.

Being the first exposure to voting system, students were given instructions of the whole process starting from placing of “ink” on the left forefinger to the way of casting their votes. Contestants were given the option to choose the symbols they want on the ballot paper.

A proper setup of booth was prepared for voting. The classroom turned into a polling booth where 1 voting table each was placed on either side to enable faster voting.

Sonia,Krishna,Gayatri (Chief ministers) and Prashansa, Mrinalini, Naheed (Dy. Chief ministers) were declared winners.

In all, it turned out to be new experience for EIS students to be a part of the electioneering process.
